Your data in Peripateo

This policy is for people who use Peripateo at peripateoapp.com, as an installable web app, or through a store listing. Last updated 13 October 2026.

What we store

If you create an account we keep the email and name you provide, a password hash (we never store the password itself), and — if you sign in with Google or X — the identifier those services return.

On that account we also store margin notes, verse-card settings, photographs you attach as card backgrounds, and reading preferences (typeface, colors, voice, pace). If you turn on daily letters, we store that choice, the translation you want in the letter, your time zone, and a private link that stops the letters. Reading progress and the same preferences are also kept in this browser so the page looks right before you sign in. Quiz progress for Test Your Walk stays in this browser only.

How it is used

Account data is used only to sign you in and to show you your notes, cards, and preferences on this device and others where you sign in. If you turn on daily letters, the email on your account is used to send that morning letter through Resend, an email service. Resend is used only to deliver the letter you asked for. We do not sell personal information, do not show third-party advertising, and do not use your notes or photos to train models.

When you choose Listen, the passage may be sent to a speech service (xAI) to produce audio, or read by the voices already on your device. When you choose a photograph as a verse background, we run an automated check for nudity and vulgar language before it can be used. Those reviews are not used to train models.

Optional gifts of $5, $10, $15, or $20 are processed by PayPal. We keep only the amount, time, and status of a gift — not your PayPal password or card number. A gift is never required.

Where it lives

Signed-in data is stored in a private Postgres database dedicated to this app. Photos on verse cards are stored as compressed images with that card, not on a public CDN. The Bible text itself is static public data, not personal.

What you control

You can delete any note or verse card from inside the app. You can sign out at any time. You can turn daily letters off from Account or from the link in any letter. You can delete the entire account from that same page, which removes notes, cards, photographs, preferences, and the letter setting. Browser copies of preferences and quiz progress can be cleared by clearing this site’s data.

Children

Peripateo is a Scripture reader. Reading does not require an account. The store age rating is 4+. Creating an account is intended for people 13 and older, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
